Westside Spring Basketball League
YMCA Spring Basketball League on the Westside serves over 800 hundred boys and girls ages 5 – 6 yrs and grades 1st – 5th living in the Beaverton, Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego and Hillsboro school districts.

New Age Brackets for Younger Players
5 / 6 Year-Old Coed League
5 and 6 year olds will play together on coed teams.
Kindergartners and Pre-Kindergartners must enroll in the 5 / 6 year-old league.
Teams are made up by school, age and combined by geographic locations.
Saturday, April 5 and 12, teams will have one-hour practices. Location TBD.
Once games start on April 19, teams will play a 40-minute game directly after a fifteen minute practice on Saturdays. No weekday commitments.
All teams will play a total of 7 games.
All games will be played in the Beaverton School District. Location TBD.
Teammate or coach requests accepted online only: but no guarantees!
Score will not be kept.
Players will receive a YMCA team basketball shirt.
The YMCA is not responsible for gym cancellations.
Official referees will not be used; both coaches will be on the floor with their teams.
5 / 6 year-olds will play with 8-foot high hoops with a junior size ball (27.5).
1st Grade Coed League
This new format will allow all 1st graders to play together on coed teams.

There will be separate 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls and boys teams.
Teams are made up by school, grade and combined by geographic locations.
Practice starts the week of April 1.
There will be one practice per week in the evening. Practice times are determined by school availability and coach's schedule.
Games will be played on Saturdays in Beaverton Elementary Schools. Location TBD.
All teams will play a total of 7 games.
Players will receive a YMCA team shirt.
Score will not be kept.

Referees will officiate each game.
3rd grade girls will play on 9 foot hoops with a junior size ball (27.5).
3rd grade boys and all 4th and 5th graders will play on 10-foot high hoops.
3rd and 4th graders will play with a junior size ball: 27.5.
5th graders will play with a 28.5 size ball.
Coaching Information
Volunteer Coaches are always needed.
Mandatory Meeting: Required for all coaches who did not coach Winter League. Meeting on Wed, March 12 at the Beaverton Family YMCA: 4925 SW Griffith Drive. Beaverton, OR 97005 at 6:00 pm. Packets and rule books will be handed out. All coaches will receive a thorough, mulit-state background check.
How to Register: Coaches must register online via Online Registration. Assistant Coaches do not need to register online. Coach Registration is now open.

Requesting Players: Using on-line registration coaches may request up to 12 players to be on their team. If the coach only has requested 1 or 5 players, for example, the YMCA will fill the team with other players from the same grade, school, or geographic location. To request players you must enter their up-to-date home phone number. Most teams will have 11 players.
Team Rosters: Coaches will receive their team rosters and practice schedules on March 19.
Fees
Early Bird online registration: $88.00.
Early Bird paper registration: $93.00.
All fees are $98.00 after 3/14/08.

Spring Basketball League
There are three ways to register your child/ren:
1. Online registration with Visa, Mastercard or check.
2. Paper registration: Send your registration form to the Westside Family YMCA c/o Scott Pierce. 4925 SW Griffith Drive. Beaverton, Oregon. 97005. Payment must be included to be registered.
3. Fax your registration form with credit card information to the Westside Family YMCA c/o Scott Pierce: 503.644.8895.

Waiting List
Waiting list dates: 3/15/08 – 4/6/08. After the Early Bird registration closes at midnight on 3/14/08, you will need to place your child on the waiting list, mail or fax the registration form with payment to the YMCA. We will not be able to give your child's name to their coach until we have received payment.
Refund Policy
All refund requests (less a processing fee of $10) must be made in writing prior to the first game on 4/19/08. After this date there will not be any refunds given. Please direct writing requests to Scott Pierce: 4925 SW Griffith Drive. Beaverton, OR 97005. Fax: 503.644.8895.

2/18/08 Spring Basketball Registration Begins
3/12/08 Mandatory Coaches' Meeting at the Beaverton Family YMCA (formally Griffith Park Family YMCA) located at 4925 SW Griffith Drive in Beaverton. This meeting will start at 6:00 pm.
3/14/08 Early Bird Registration ends at midnight (Mailed registrations can be postmarked 3/17/07)
3/15/08 - 4/6/08 Waiting list. Your child will be placed onto a waiting list. We will call you by 4/7/07 with information. We try our hardest to place every child.
3/19/08 Rosters and practice schedules done – Coaches will begin contacting players with practice schedule.
4/1/08 Practices begin for 3rd, 4th + 5th grade teams. All teams will have 1 one-hour practice per week. Practice times are determined by school availability and coach's schedule.
4/5/08 & 4/12/08 Practices will be one hour for 5 – 6 yr-olds, 1st and 2nd grade teams.
4/11/08 Coaches will pick-up team shirts and game schedules in exchange for turning in required paperwork.
4/19/08 First game for all teams
5/24/08 No games. Happy Memorial Day.
6/7/08 Last game of the season - each team will play 7 games
