Winter Sports 
The Westside Family YMCA offers basketball in the Winter. Information below on those options. Check back for additional details, including registration.

Winter Basketball League
During our Winter Sports Season we offer basketball exclusively. Our winter basketball program on the Westside serves over 2,400 boys and girls ages 5 and 6 years-old and grades 1st through 4th living in the Beaverton, Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego and Hillsboro school districts.

Registration
Online Registration will open October 13

5 and 6 Year-Old Coed League

Kindergartners and Pre-Kindergartners must enroll in the 5 / 6 year-old league.
Teams are made up by school, age and combined by geographic locations.  
Saturday, January 10th and 17th, teams will have one-hour practices. Location TBD.  
Once games start on January 24th, teams will have a short practice followed by a game totaling 1 hour on Saturdays. No weekday commitments.
All teams will play 8 games.
All games will be played in Beaverton Elementary Schools. Location TBD.  
Teammate or coach requests accepted online only; no guarantees.
Score will not be kept.  
Players will receive a YMCA team basketball shirt.
The YMCA is not responsible for gym cancellations.
Official referees will not be used; both coaches will be on the floor with their teams.
5 and 6 year -olds will play with 8-foot high hoops with a junior size ball.

1st Grade Coed League

3rd – 4th Grade Leagues
There will be separate 3rd and 4th grade girls and boys teams.
Teams are made up by school, grade and combined by geographic locations.
Practice starts the week of January 5th.
There will be one practice per week in the evening. Practice times are determined by school availability and coach's schedule. 
All games will be played on Saturdays. 
All teams will play 8 games.
All games will be played in Beaverton Elementary Schools. Location TBD.
Score will not be kept.
Players will receive a YMCA team shirt.
The YMCA is not responsible for gym cancellations.
Referees will officiate each game.    
3rd grade girls will play on 9 foot hoops with a junior size ball.
3rd grade boys and all 4th graders will play on 10-foot high hoops with a junior size ball.

Coaching Information 
Volunteer Coaches are Always Needed. Training is provided.
Mandatory Meeting: All interested coaches must attend the mandatory meeting on Thursday, December 4 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.: Village Baptist Church. 330 SW Murray Boulevard. Beaverton, Oregon 97005. Packets and rulebooks will be handed out. All head and assistant coaches will receive a thorough, mulit-state background check.

How to Register: Head Coaches must register online.
Assistant Coaches should not register online.  

Requesting Players: Coaches may request up to 15 players to be on their team. If the coach has only requested 1 or 5 players, for example, the YMCA will fill the team with other players from the same grade, school, or geographic location. To request players you must enter their up-to-date phone number. Most teams will have 11 players.

Team Rosters: Coaches will not receive their team rosters until Wednesday, December 17th.

After 11/30/08 All fees will be $98.00

All fees apply equally to students from any school district.
Financial Assistance is available. For information about
Financial Assistance. All financial assistance applications must be received by December 1st for this league.

Registration Information
1. Check back for online registration.
2. Download and send your Registration Form to the Westside Family YMCA. 4925 SW Griffith Drive. Beaverton, Oregon 97005. Payment must be included to be registered. Fliers will be distributed to all Beaverton and Tigard public schools the second week in September.
3. Fax your registration form with credit card information to the Westside Family YMCA c/o Kerry Rae Connolly 503.644.8895.
*If you are unable to download a form, contact the YMCA at 503.644.3900.

Waiting List
To place your child on the waiting list, mail or fax the registration form to the YMCA. We are very good at placing the kids from the waiting list onto teams. If we can place your child, we will contact you. We will not be able to give your child's name to their coach until we have received payment.

Refund Policy
All refund requests (less a processing fee of $15) must be made in writing prior to the first game on 1/24/08. After this date there will not be any refunds given. Please direct cancellation requests in writing to Kerry Rae Connolly: 4925 SW Griffith Drive. Beaverton, OR 97005. Fax: 503.644.8895.

12/4/08 Mandatory Head Coach meeting at Village Baptist Church: 330 SW Murray Blvd. Beaverton, OR 97005. 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
12/11/08 – 1/9/08 Waiting list. Your child will be placed onto a waiting list. We will call you by 1/11/08 with information. We try our hardest to place every child.
12/17/08
Rosters done - Coaches will begin contacting players with practice schedule. If you haven't heard from your coach by January 2nd, you may call us and we will help connect you.  
1/6/09 Practices begin for 3rd + 4th grade teams. All teams will have 1 one-hour practice per week. Practice times are determined by school availability and coach's schedule.
1/10/09 Practices begin for K/1st and 2nd grade teams; all scheduled times for this age-group will be on Saturdays.
1/16/09 Coaches will pick-up tee shirts and game schedules in exchange for turning in required paperwork (TBA).
1/24/09 First game for all teams.
3/14/09 Last game of the season – each team will play 8 games.
3/21/09 Make-up games if needed.
